Did you know that flossing your teeth is a really important step in preventing gum disease? While many people value dental care, research shows that most adults don’t floss, and almost 50 percent of those adults suffer from some form of periodontal disease. To ensure you can keep your teeth and gums healthy, remember to commit to flossing your teeth at least once every day and make sure you’ve got the right technique. Start with about 18 inches of floss and use your thumbs and index fingers to form a C-shape around every tooth. Remember, the goal isn’t to simply slide the floss back and forth. You need to clean each tooth by removing as much plaque and food particulate as possible with your floss. Once you develop the habit, the entire process will be easier, and your teeth and gums will thank you!
